The Santa Fe Community Farm
To provide fresh organic produce to those in need while practicing sustainability; preserving agricultural land and appurtenant water rights; promoting community awareness and education using sustainable food-producing practices that keep our environment safe and healthy.
The Community Farm raises fruits and vegetables for those in need; improves the environment by soil amendment and vegetation restoration; offers opportunities for community service; and provides a venue for educational and community development programs.
Board of Directors
The work of The Community Farm is guided and supported by an expert, volunteer Board of Directors. Members are:
- John E. Stephenson, Chairman
John Stephenson has lived in Santa Fe since his birth in 1914. He has been honored as a “Santa Fe Living Treasure,” and as one of Santa Fe’s “10 Who Made a Difference.” John was recognized by President Clinton as a “Points of Light Foundation Award” Recipient. In 2009, he received The Sustainable Santa Fe Lifetime Achievement Award. He also has been named to the Hall of Fame for the National Weight Lifting Association. John Stephenson continues to make a difference.
- Roy E. Stephenson, Vice-Chairman
Roy Stephenson is also a native of Santa Fe. He has a BA and MA in English from Cornell University and a JD from UNM. A career public servant, he was a Children’s Court Attorney for the Children, Youth & Families Department. Since 2000, he has been with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission, as Staff Attorney, Legal Division Director, and currently is Director of the Utility Division. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Santa Fe Watershed Association.
- Ed Maglisceau, Treasurer
Ed Maglisceau grew up in the Buffalo, N.Y. area and worked on his family’s vegetable garden as a youngster. He retired to Santa Fe in 1995 and served as Volunteer Coordinator for the farm through Ghost Ranch. When he is not refereeing high school sports or providing tax advice, he and his wife, Anne, are world travelers with Elderhostel.
